Since this debate, some time has passed, and opinions have been formed. The notice about the «Crowdfunding» is displayed on signs at both entrances to the «Magic Wood» in English, but donations are barely trickling in.
As reported in the media, the municipal assembly decided on June 18, 2024, to conclude a limited two-year contract with the current tenant. During this period, a newly established commission will examine the Val Ferrera regarding its tourism potential and the realignment of the «Magic Wood» with camping, involving relevant stakeholders, and will present a concept for implementation. Furthermore, the developed project for new parking spaces was rejected. The entrances and exits to the cantonal road pose a significant safety risk, and the municipality cannot bear the residual risk in the event of an incident, especially since financial support from the users of these parking spaces is virtually nonexistent. This has now led to initial consequences. The unresolved parking issue for day tourists has been postponed indefinitely. As a result, there are now very few parking spaces available.
I assume that Martin Keller and the IG Magic Wood will inform the bouldering community accordingly and propose solutions as per their mandate.
